What
challenges do leaders face in conducting business globally?
What type of training or education do companies provide to
help their leaders work across different cultures? What skills
are needed for cross-cultural communications? Included in
the Center for Creative Leadership September 2002 e-Newsletter
was an online survey that was completed by more than 100 readers.
Among the results: "What is the biggest challenge in
working globally? Nearly half the respondents (44 percent)
found cultural differences to be the biggest challenge in
working across the globe. According to Center research, when
managing across cultures, leaders must take into account the
complex interactions of norms, beliefs, values and attitudes
that distinguish one cultural group from another. "
